President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for
the year 2018-19 from Rashtrapati Bhawan through virtual mode.
राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने वर्ष 2018-19 के लिए राष्ट्रीय सेवा योजना (एनएसएस) पुरस्कार को राष्ट्रपति भवन से वर्चुअल मोड के माध्यम से प्रदान किया।
✓ Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju will attend the ceremony from Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.✓ The NSS Award for the year 2018-19 will be given to 42 awardees in 3 different categories like University or 2Council, NSS Units, and their Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers.✓ NSS is a Central Sector Scheme which was launched in the year 1969 with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the student youth.✓ NSS volunteers work on issues of social relevance, which keep evolving in response to the needs of the community, through regular and special camping activities. Such issues include literacy and education, health, family welfare and nutrition, environment conservation, social service programs, rescue and relief during calamities.
As many as 43 bridges built in border areas of Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir dedicated to the nation by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
